Is It Safe To Eat At Restaurants Yet?

Is It Safe To Eat At Restaurants Yet?

Posted on July 16, 2020July 16, 2020 by Joan Hawkins

Eating out is a favorite pastime for many of us but that’s recently changed. Our entire world has changed and it’s scary. The Coronavirus (Covid-19) is the epidemic that’s caused the world to change and it’s unpredictable and frightening. For some countries, they’ve been relatively lucky in terms of how many cases and deaths have been recorded. Unfortunately, many have not been so lucky. Everything has changed and many outlets have closed, including restaurants. The trouble is things are starting to ease and it’s difficult to know if it’s really safe to return to normal. So, is it safe to eat at a restaurant?

No Hard-Line On Restaurants

The trouble about this epidemic is that it’s new, unpredictable, and very little is known about it. Also, everyone has approached it differently. In the U.S. every state has a way of dealing with the pandemic and getting the economy back on track. For instance, some have enforced restaurants to reduce capacity indoors by 50%, some even more. A restaurant can use outdoor space and in some states, that’s all that’s allowed to open, not the indoor space too.To know more about CBD Food click here.

This is very different from Europe, in particular, the UK. In Britain, things are slowly moving forward but even then, there are different approaches by the 4 nations. As yet, no restaurants are open, and even when they do, it’ll be likely at a reduced capacity indoors. In some European countries badly affected by the virus, they’re putting up shields for each table so customers can’t come into contact with other diners. Eating out is certainly changing. The problem is that protocols don’t exist for such emergencies; it leaves it open for interpretation.

Is It Safe To Eat At Restaurants Yet?

No Restaurant Is 100% Safe

Right now, nothing is entirely safe. Covid-19 is still very much among us and being transmitted, even with safety measures and restrictions in place. That doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to be infected eating out or when you visit restaurants. It’s unlikely to happen but you can’t be sure. There are no guarantees with this virus. Some restaurants will follow the strictest of hygiene and safety guidelines but may still fall victim to an outbreak among employees. Others may not. It’s difficult to determine because every city and town varies with infection rates.

Also, you have to consider how comfortable you really would be sitting in a restaurant? Would you only focus on the risk of being infected or being able to enjoy a meal? You have to think about how careful you are and the employees at the restaurant. It’s like going back to a hotel during this crisis, you know the virus isn’t fully away and you can’t feel entirely comfortable. You’re constantly aware of what you’re touching and coming into contact with. Until the virus is completely eliminated, nothing will be 100% safe.

A Risk Only You Can Decide

Eating out is fun and it can be a treat for all the family but you’re the one who has to make the decision. If a restaurant is opened, will you be happy to visit there? You have to decide if the risks outweigh the rewards. Think about this for a moment: you visit a restaurant and one of the servers has, unknowingly, Covid-19. Whether you come into contact with that person directly or indirectly, you and your family are now exposed to it. You might be lucky and avoid the virus but a member of your family might not; that’s a possibility because the virus still exists. This is a decision you must take because no-one can make it for you.

Always Be Cautious When You Eat Out

While it would be great to say it’s safe to eat out, it’s not entirely true. Of course, that could change at any second and with numbers falling in some parts of the world, it’ll be truer for some than others. The reality is that restaurants have a part to play, just as much as you do, in terms of making them safe. You have to take precautions before, during, and after the visit, and the restaurants have to do the same. Washing hands, tables, and surfaces regularly can be great but also, the health of the customers and employees must be looked at carefully. It will be safe to eat at a restaurant again but when only time will tell. You can know more about CBD Food by clicking here:
